Stress management: Natural therapies

August 8, 2020

There’s a tonne of natural support available for stress management, including nutritional supplements and herbal medicine, to help you get through any major short-term stress (without the dreaded cortisol crash) and build resistance in the long-term.

Some of the key nutrients are magnesium, vitamins B6 and C, all of which we burn through when we’re stressed. In terms of herbal medicine it’s important to speak to a trained professional, not only because we need to confirm there aren’t any interactions or contraindications, but also because herbs have multiple properties (because of their thousands of active constituents), so we can tailor them to each individual presentation.

If you’re having a particularly bad day and need a quick fix, lavender is a powerful stress reliever we often use, and is safe as an aromatherapy treatment in terms of contraindications: try some essential oil in a vaporiser or the below recipe for a detoxifying and relaxing bath.
